Powerglide chassis or Freight Liner??

I am looking to purchase my 1st used Tiffin Phaeton 40 QTH coach (2009-2011). One of the units I am considering has a Powerglide chassis. I believe our forum is fairly positive about the Powerglide chassis, but I am concerned that the chassis upgrade is 4000# heavier. Will that affect how the coach pulls on grades with a medium sized SUV in tow? I must admit I was surprised to see the weight difference on the Tiffin spec sheet.

You might post your question on TRVN ( Tiffin owners forum ) also as a response might be quicker and somw very knowledgeable owners !

I have a powerglide under my Allegro Bus and have been very satisfied. Tiffin only put a few Phaetons on powerglides for I year as I recall then built them only for the Breeze and Bus models and all Pheatons went on the freightliner. I also had that chassis under another coach and nothing wrong with it either.

Personally I would not make the chassis my first criteria but the condition of the preowned coach and it's care, maintenance and floor plan as my primary concerns.

Phaetons were first optioned on the Powerglide chassis in 2010 and continued into 2012. The new 2016 Phaeton 44OH is also built on the Powerglide chassis. Our 2010 is built on the Powerglide chassis and we've had no problems from the chassis itself. I think you would be pleased with either.
