Question about slides

My 2014 36LA has two slides. When I bring the living room slide in, it raises up slightly on the way in, then "sits back down" and the carpeted part sits on the floor.
We recently looked at a Newmar Ventanna, then a Phaeton, both with opposing slides, and when both slides
came in completely, there was a two or three inch gap between the edge of the slide with the table and chairs, and the floor. In my opinion, it is a great way to accidentally lose or kick something under the slide.
Question is: why don't the slides "come back down to the floor? I noticed that the opposite slide does sit nearly onto the floor.
We enjoy stopping for lunch or breaks while traveling and it appears to me that having the carpeted area several inches off the floor is a great way to have to sit crooked with two chair legs on the carpet and two on the floor.
Anybody have any ideas?
I don't recall my two Winnebago Journeys doing this....

Question about slides

Went from a 36LA to a Phaeton , the slide mechanism is different. The Phaeton rails are bigger and thicker thus more up and down movement. The carpet flap drops down to floor level so I’ve never had anything go under the slide. The opposing slide is hydraulic and does not drop down, it just moves straight. Personally I wish both were hydraulic and just moved straight in and out, the hydraulic slides are pretty much trouble free as long as the pump works.

question about slides

Yes, I have a flap of carpet that drops to the floor on my 36LA. But the Phaeton I looked at did not. Just an open space between the carpet on the slide and the floor.
You're saying that Phaetons (and possibly other Tiffins) have this 'Flap' ?Now, I'm wondering if the slide had been brought in completely?

Different models of Phaeton's have varying types of slides. Some of the hydraulic slides move straight in and out. Both living area slides in our 40IH raise up and move in. There is less than 1" area that the carpet flap does not drop down all the way to cover but it's never been a problem for us. Yes, it's possible for something to get under but as long as you are aware it shouldn't be an issue.
