Question about the shower door lock

Here is a Question about the shower door lock. On the inside of the shower the Screw the attaches the locking lever sticks out beyond the not about a 1/4 inch. It seems to me that it should not and if someone fell in the shower and hit it it would do some damage. I noticed this when I took my first shower.

Cut it off with a hacksaw take about 3 minutes less than posting a pictude

I fully agree, I'd use a Dremel with a cut off wheel though. (Because I have one and it's easier to do that way) Keep it cool while cutting, that's a NYLOCK nut, and heat will damage it.

Good answers if I had a hack saw or dremel I could do that. What I really want to know is this something Tiffin should have left like that or do they miss it. I do not think I can cut it off with a kitchen knife. I am putting together a list of thing to have fixed by a Tiffin dealer.

I would mark the bolt where you would normally cut it with a marker of some type, then take it to a hardware store and get a smaller bolt which will fit.

Not sure why they did not use a cap nut. I personally would take it out and see if I could get a stainless bolt and cap nut that fits. Would look much better.

Re: Shower door lock Problemed Solved

I fixed what I thought was a safety issue on the shower door lock. I got the screw cut off to where it is flush with the top of the nut anf the I reversed the screw so the nut is inside the plastic lock lever. This gives a cleaner look and I think it is the way it should be done by Tiffin.

That's probably the way it should be in the first place, but now you have marks in the shower frame...as someone suggested, get a stainless steel pan head screw and nut and Washer to cover the marks left by the install..
