rattle racket

2004 Allegro Bay 37'db gas. A heavy sounding "rattle" noise is coming from passenfger side of coach heard mostly at lower speeds on bumpy or semi smooth road surfaces. I have checked out every bolt and nut I can see, looking for shiny spots. I have checked all steering ball joints, checked for broken springs and slipped shims. Any thing I could touch and reach with my hands I shook. The elusive sound is still there and I figure if something rattles, something is getting warn out. Can anyone share some light on what they may have found and share. By the way, the coach steers and drives just great with no uneven tire wear. Help!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yea, and thanks.

Bet you have a bad shock.

Take the front shocks off and drive thru the neighborhood, see if your noise is gone.

Sway bar bushings or bad shock mount.

Had the front of the coach off the ground, tires too and did some tire grab and shakes. Nothing appeared loose on any bushings. Shocks are new (3 months) and shock mounts are solid. Anything to do with the steering and shocks seem tight. If the sway bar bushings are the issue, shouldn't they be loose when coach is lifted? Never dealt with a warn sway bar bushing in any vehicle I have owned so I can only guess its ok. It is difficult for me to find an honest mechanic anymore, if you know what I mean.

Would it sound odd if I mentioned that there is no sway bar on this coach? Just the tie rod ends and all the steering links.

I can't speak to your year MH, our 2012 F53 had a sway bar. Your shocks may still be the problem. When you jack up the MH, you put downward pressure on the shock and they probably won't rattle. The rattle is usually caused by loose or worn bushing on the top mounts, or improperly installed.

I think I found the problem. The lower bolt holding the shock mount goes through a bracket under the leaf spring. The bolt was "loose" and was "flopping" around in the steel tube it was in. Tightened it a lot. Unable to drive and test until I replace the circuit board for the front slide which goes click when I try and put the front slide back in. Luckily I am at home. Whew!
