Rear DS Slide - 1/2 Closed on it's own!

I heard an odd noise from the bedroom. One-half of the slide on the drivers slide was trying to close. The controls did nothing. The key was not in the ignition.

Not really knowing what to do, I went out to shut off the main power in the battery compartment. When I opened the door, water just poured out of it. I noticed a red light flashing on one of the "Lipper dual motor synchronous velocity slide controllers". It was wet. Water had entered from a hole at the top of the compartment. I reset the controller after reading the directions and the slide closed. It works fine now. I covered it with plastic to keep it dry.

I thought of two possibilities - can anyone offer any thoughts? 1) It's been raining. An obvious thought is water is getting in somehow. 2) The gray tank filled to 100% full while we had the washer running.

Which of those two is more likely the reason? We've been in torrential rain before and have never had a problem. Are there roof drains that could be plugged? Or is it more likely due to the washer draining and the gray tank was full?

Sigh. We are newbies! I'm impressed that I was able to get the slide shut!

Thanks for any insights.

You might want to update your profile and your post with what year and model Tiffin you own.

It will help those with knowledge and experience give you a more accurate response.

Can't tell which coach you have, but I would think if your grey tank overfilled from using the washer you'd have wetness also on TOP of the floor and carpet in the bedroom near the washer as well. Do you know that you overfilled the tank?

It's usually a good practice to have your grey tank sewer valve open when doing laundry, or pay close attention to your tank capacities. When I got my coach I emptied the grey tank, then ran two loads of laundry (different type of wash cycles), draining the grey tank into 5 gallon buckets after each test, to measure the water consumed.

That way you'll know the impact of your specific washer when doing laundry, on your tankage capacities. Helps you to plan when you want/can do laundry.

Lesson learned: as mentioned, leave the gray tank valve open while running the washer, dishwasher, etc.

We checked this morning and all is fine.

Whew!

I've wondered about that. We haven't used our washer much yet - about how much water does an average wash cycle use on yours?

The DW had a bad habit of running the washer without checking the grey tank level. I now have a large note taped on the washer to check the tank
