I am reading posts and people keep referring to the rear furnace. As in heating the bays. I just bought a 2004 Phaeton 35RH with a 300 Cummins. The only furnace I know of is the one under the refrigerator. Am I missing something?

Some MH had a heat pump in the basement. Many winnebagos had them. I was told they were discontinued by the mfg? Maybe some other brands had them also. My tuscany is under the refrig like yours with piping that vents up thru the floor.

Generally speaking, most coaches gas-fired furnaces have some capability to heat the "wet bays" to prevent freezing of plumbing. This is not to be confused with "basement" AC / Heat pumps, nor the roof mounted heat pumps found in some roof A/C units.

I don't think the exact location of one's gas-fired furnace matters regarding the ducting, or lack thereof, to the under-floor compartments. Both of our coaches furnaces heated the wet bays, one was under the fridge and exhausted out the side, and the current coach's furnace is in the rear and exhausts thru the back cap.

The brochure archive on the Tiffin web site only goes back to 2005, but the 35' model for that year only had one furnace. You didn't get 2 furnaces until the 38' model. I'm guessing you're in the same boat with your 2004 - only 1 furnace.

My 2004 34ft. Allegro Bay XB came with a 35,000BTU front and 20,000 rear furnaces. Rear unit serves Toilet room as well.Perhaps your particular model floorplan doesn't need the additional unit. Varying physical layout might explain the differing. Both of mine at full throttle can run you otta' there. I usually run the 35K and rarely the smaller one except when driving in 20's.

We have 2011 Allegro Open Road 35QBA. It didn't come with wet bay heating capability. I asked dealer if Tiffin had an ARTIC PACKAGE or something similar. Answer was no offering from Tiffin. Guess the 60-100 watt bulb could do the trick.

Time to find another dealer... Heated wet bays are indeed standard in your Open Road, they are ducted from furnace. They should know that?

If you go to the Tiffin website and look at their archive; You will find that you indeed have heated water and holding tank compartments. That's as straight a scoop as Tiffin will give you.
