Red bay building 40ih

Going to red bay in two weeks the watch our new 40 ih being built. Any suggestions??

Have you been to Red Bay before and toured the factory? I've talked to several owners who have watched their motorhomes being built in Red Bay. They all caught several potential mistakes ranging from wrong furniture installed to missing wall anchors!

When you get to the later stations, see if you can find an inspector (usually have a checklist and a roll of tape) and get your own roll of tape. When you spot things, usually cosmetic, tape it. If you find a major goof (wrong equipment installed, for example) grab the lead person for that station and point it out to them. Always be polite if you find an issue and people will do their best to get it resolved.

We went to Red Bay and watched our 2016 40 QBH build. First thing to do is take the tour to get the lay of the land. Also have your build number and let the tour guide know as they will point out assembly items for your coach. Once the tour is over, you can return to the plant and follow your coach throughout the build. Bring your camera and take plenty pictures of your coach during the built as it will be valuable when questions arise about how things are placed/assembled. Our build took about a month. We made 2 trips. The first trip we arrived as our coach left the chassis shop and entered into the main assembly building. It took 6 days for assembly, after which the unit was sent to Belmont MS. for paint. We toured the paint plant but did not stay the week it took to paint the coach. We returned for final assembly and inspection. As mentioned earlier you can work with the inspector to test everything you want, which we did. I even got to take a ride on the highway when it was road tested. It was a fantastic experience and highly recommend it. The folks at Red Bay were great. Even got to meet and talk to Bob Tiffin.

Be ready for a great experience with some of the nicest people you could ever want to meet. From chassis roll in to paint shop ready took four days on our build and the paint shop took another four days. As mentioned, take lots of photos so you will know where things are. Stations 17 and 18 are the last ones before roll out, so go over interior finishes and fit and mark any places that need to be addressed with tape. The floor tiles are not as urgent as every coach goes to tile repair after the paint shop where they will replace any chipped or raised tiles.

Make changes - is that right??
Can you replace a sofa style or bed after seeing them ? Add an option item or delete ?
I would think only if those items were available immediately

Some changes can be made, but it depends on what. Changing a bed from queen to king would be one change that probably could not be done because there is a difference in the sideboards. Anything that would require changes to cabinetry such as adding/deleting a dishwasher is probably not possible since the slides and cabinets are built before assembly. We did add two storage trays and changed our color choice while ours was being built.

Unrelated to your actual build but while in Red Bay the Mason Jar restaurant had a decent lunch when I ate there last Friday! It is just a minute from the Tiffin factory.

Home from red bay waiting delivery of coach in two weeks. Highly recommend this experience - team at red bay we're hard working and wonderful. We ended up customizing colors- can't wait to see it finished

Congrats on the new Phaeton, hope you have many years of enjoyment and minimal problems. We went to Red Bay and watched our build also, it was an awesome experience.

Could you explain what colors you customized? I know Newmar will do that , didn't realize Tiffin would.
