Refrigerator Door Latch

At a local RV show this evening while looking at a Zephyr 45LZ I noticed the door latch that was installed on the residential style fridge. I recently installed a residential fridge in my MH and this type latch is just what I need. if anyone can help me in obtaining a latch such as this my DW will be gratefully thankful.

Wow! That's very different from what they are using now. Your picture looks like something Tiffin might have made up locally when they started using residential refrigerators.

They are now using these type latches C3 - Grabber Catch Latches - Southco They come in three strengths at the Tiffin parts store and they are using one on each refrigerator door and one on the freezer door. We just got a 2013 Bus and watched them install the latches on the fridge. If you can't get them from Southco, you could call the Tiffin parts folks and have you them send you some. They can be reached at 256-356-0261 and press the button for parts. I think they're about $3-4 at the store, but don't hold me to that.

Whatever type of latch you end up with, be careful drilling into the frame around the door of any refrigerator. The RV refrigerators have electric heating coils around the doors to prevent moisture condensation in humid weather, and the newer residential refrigerators have coils that contain refrigerant for the same purpose. The coils are called "Yoder loops."

I used refrigerator kid latches (one on each side of the freezer drawer on our French door refrigerator) from Walmart that are held on by double-sided adhesive. The lock can also be used on the edge of a door of a 1 or 2-door refrigerator). There is a "tongue" extending back along the side of the fridge and a button lock that attaches to the side of the door or drawer. The button can be locked in the open position for everyday use, and released to lock closed when traveling.

I too saw this type latch yesterday at a dealer, on several different units. It would be perfect for our residential fridge in the motorhome. Can anyone tell me where to find one? Google isn't helping.

Question refrigerator door latch

Works like a champ.....but where to find one?
I've been using the stick-on type, but they keep coming off.

OOPPSS had trouble uploading picture.

Here is what we use to secure our refrigerator. Costs about 10 cents. 2 screws and a piece of nylon string. Works great!

If you search on Amazon for refridge door latches, you will find hundreds of solutions.

This is the one I put on ours in our previous coach that worked very well:
