Have a Norcold refridge that has completely lost power - no sign of life @ controls. History: coach was stored for a year and was connected to 50 amp power entire time. Refridge was left on. All batteries expired while in storage. New batteries installed, but still no power to refridge controls. Tried the "magnet fix" to the upgrade module @ back of refridge. Red light goes out temporarily, then back on. No smell of ammonia anywhere. Suggestions??

You say "red light goes out then back on" which means power must be present in the power panel. If you have 12 v to the refrigerator and still no cooling, you have checked LP and 120 v power, it's time for a professional or you could just start throwing parts at it. I guess since you knew to do a magnetic reset you have a manual and have tried all the steps in the troubleshooting part of the manual? With a multimeter you can check the 120v heating element and if power is getting to the control panel.

Time to replace it with a residential fridge. We just love ours and is head and shoulders above our old No-cold 1210.

Residential fridge, hum... Sounds interesting. But how do you cool/freeze while traveling/boondocking?? Does the coach need major modification to go to a residential fridge??

You'd need to install a large enough inverter to power it, probably increase battery capacity, perhaps a solar array on the roof. Also, according to the width of your entry door, you might have to remove a side window it remove old fridge and install new fridge.

I ditched the Not-So-Cold and had the Samsung 197 installed. I changed out the inverter to a Magnum 2812 PSW and installed a new control panel and use 4 batteries. My inverter is on all the time. The Samsung will run on the Xantrex Freedom 458 MSW but the like the PSW better. Total cost of install around $3800 (frig-inverter-controller-install)

This is what mine looks like but this is not my coach, both are Country Coach.

Sounds like the circuit board. It has a fuse (or two) which may be bad. The entire board is inexpensive at the Amish frig site... www.rvcoolingunit.com

Run the residential refrigerator off the inverter while traveling (the MH alternator will keep the batteries charged). Add a pair of 6V batteries if you boondock.

Some modification to the woodwork surrounding the refrigerator opening will be required. You may also need to lower the false floor the existing refrigerator sits on depending on which refrigerator you choose.

Samsung (and possibly others) make refrigerators that will run on a modified sine wave inverter, but most need pure sine wave. You can replace your existing MSW inverter with PSW, or you can just add a small PSW inverter dedicated to the fridge.
