Yeah, but it's not just a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Maytag, and Roper. are all the same. A couple of years ago there was a recall for this problem. Give your company a call and see if they'll still honor it. If not, ask for the part and number and spring for it yourself. As said about $25, or maybe cheaper on the web.
