Refrigerator leak

Hi everybody,
I'm the new owner of a 2011 Phaeton QBH. We have had two trips, and both times after returning, I have noticed that the carpet in front of the residential refrigerator is wet like the refrigerator has leaked. I checked and the ice maker is empty before we leave our campsite, there is a little frozen build up in the freezer but doesn't seem to be enough to cause this problem.

I have never had a motorhome with a residential freezer before. Is there something that I should be doing as we are packing up to prevent this?

Make and model? Frost frees have a natural defrost system. Check and see if there is any water on the inside at the bottom, under the crispers

If the drain tube in the back of the freezer is stopped up, it can cause water to build up in the bottom and drain out the front during a defrost cycle. Normally, it shows up with an ice build up on the bottom of the freezer, but depending on the slope/shape of the compartment it might just run out before it freezes.

Very common problem of the drain tube clogged up. Whirlpool and related brand especially. Look to utube for a fix or if it newer Whirlpool might cover it

If it is a Whirlpool, the repair kit is about $25 and it will take you less than 30 minutes to repair it. Whirlpool used a duckbill on the end of the drain tube from the freezer that would become plugged up over time. The replacement system actually adds a P trap and gets rid of the duckbill - no more problems.

Yeah, but it's not just a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Maytag, and Roper. are all the same. A couple of years ago there was a recall for this problem. Give your company a call and see if they'll still honor it. If not, ask for the part and number and spring for it yourself. As said about $25, or maybe cheaper on the web.
