We own a 2007 Allegro Bay 37 QDB, with a 1200 series Norcold four door refrigerator. We have always needed to keep it set on the highest setting to make it cool enough. We had it checked at Tiffin service in 2007 and we were told it was ok. This January the unit really would not get cold enough. We had a service person look at it and were told it was under recall by Norcold. The recall proceedure failed to correct the problem. Only after a number of hours, yes hours on the phone with Norcold service trying to find a solution, we were told by Norcold to check to see if the baffels behind and over the frig were properly installed. They were not. Anyone who has a Norcold four door frig. vented through the side wall should check for proper installation of the unit After installing the proper baffels behind and over the frig. it has worked fine. Tiffin sugested solution was to replace the refrigerator. Installing the proper baffels was only a small portion of the cost to cure the problem, it took a number of hours to diagnose. Tiffin has aggreed to pay for the baffel installation (they must know there is a problem) but refuses to pay to diagnose the problem. I do have the paper work to back up my claim.

I'd fight them on the diagnosis issue. If they had built it right, there would be no need for a diagnosis.

The repair in January was done by a mobil RV Service in Ft Meyers, FL. But I was in touch with Red Bay while trying to find out what the problem with the frig. was. Tech support in Red Bay suguested replacing the frig. Maybe my extended warranty would have covered the replacement but the refrigerator was not the problem. The problem was with the origional installation, by Tiffin, when the coach was built. This is not a Norcold problem or one that an extended warrenty should cover. I feel that Tiffin should issue a recall on all side wall vented units.

Go to Insulation Manual GE and it will show roof vent baffles and slide double vent baffle installs.
These manuals are supplied to coach MFG its up to them to install correctly.
Norcold will not recognize the warranty if its not.

Things like this happen somtimes. My Father bought a 35 ft tri-axle Airstream trailer 3 yrs ago and after having 2 places look at why the wall around the fridge was so hot they discoved the top vent was never cut out on the roof!
