Remove valances - 2007 Phaeton

We are trying to remove the large valances on our 2007 Tiffin Phaeton. Our blinds have come unthreaded. The people who are going to restring want us to take them off the vehicle. To do that, we have to remove the three large valances. Any hints? Please?

You need a 6" #2 square drive Robinson screw driver bit. I got one at Lowes. Its used for driving pocket screws. The valences use 3 square drive screws to hold them to the cabinets above them. The screws are between the front of the valence and the blind carrier. the side ones are about 1" inside the inner edge of the side valences and the center screw is within 2-3" of the center of the valence. I feel for the screws with driver as I have never been able to see or feel them with my fingers. Good luck as some of them are buried into the valence covering material, but they are there. Just takes some time to find them.

Thanks

We will go out and try that later this afternoon. My husband found the side ones, but we have not yet found the one on the top. I kind of wish that they had put the screw down through the cabinet rather than up through the valance!!!

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The top has 3 screws, over and above the ones near the bottom holding the sides through the angle clips. Sometimes you can spot the approximate location of the upper screws by looking closely at the area where the cabinet bottoms and the valence top comes together. Wiggle the top of the valence vigorously and some times you can see where the valence moves more and less and get an idea where the screws are. Just depends on how tightly they installed them at Red Bay. Good luck,

We removed all of ours as the DW wanted to recover them. It's really pretty easy. The top screws are between the shade and the window. I used a cordless drill, 1/4" extension about 8" long with a 1/4" socket on it. Put a long #6 square bit in it. I would kinda lay where I could see up with a small flash light (I'm a little blind) and could easily take all the screws out. I took the lower ones (angle brackets) out last. Once I figures it all out it took me about 3 minutes to remove and 3 to re-install,

Same here. I have removed every valance in our coach at least twice and some three times to re string. There is an excellent diagram for re-stringing the shades on the TRVN network. I am the DW in this .... so I can not tell you the size of any of the screws, but I purchased an 8" drill extension with a Phillips head. I use my cordless drill. The screws are about 3" long and are located between the shade and the window. I use a head lite, so I can more easily see up there.... you have to get yourself in under the valance. If you can not position yourself,,, feeling for them is not easy. Remove the screws on the top of the valance, then the side two screws. I lay the valance on the bed and remove the shades from them from there, there is a clip that holds them onto the valance. Once off the valance.... you can easily follow the instructions from off the TRVN website to restring. Good luck.... If I can do it.... anyone can....

Hi,
I decided to go this way. Removed the valances and those blankity blankity stringed shades. I then carefully cut off the vertical strips and tucked the material back etc. so only trhe horizontal top valance remained.
I then measured and ordered regular roller type shades with a wavy bottom so they looked kind of nice. Installed the roller shades and we like them a lot.
To us the coach seems roomier with out those vertical strips on the windows - - - especially sitting in the dinette.
I got the mid-range shades to match the interior colors. If I were to do it again, I'd get a higher "grade" shade.
