Rotted floor

I thought the furnace support was my problem. That is the tip of the iceberg. The floor under the tanks is totally rotten. THe support holding up the grey/black tanks has one leg about ready to go thru. So I cut away all the fabric and the "particle board" used for a floor is in various stages of gone. Any ideas?

It's a 2004 Phaeton and it seems as if I read about this happening to someone else.

I believe this will be a major project and that the tanks will have to be removed. Flush them out good. Don't go back with the crummy OSB- use real plywood

Call Tiffin in Red Bay, they can do it there, maybe at a discount or free. Almost all Tiffins prior to 2010 need new wet bay floors.

Yes definitely get in touch with Tiffin Service Department, 256-356-0261 ext 5, as soon as possible. Tiffin was repairing this issue for free up to 8 years old. Even if your coach is beyond this they will probably offer the repair at a substantial discount.

I've done a couple of these floors. It's about a 10-12 hour job and any authorized Tiffin service center can do it for you. The fresh tank comes out but the black & grey can stay in for completion of the repair. It's not an official "recall" persay but Tiffin knows it's a problem and they fix it. Call them with VIN and purchase date into in hand. Tiffin is a great company to deal with.

As others have said, this is a known issue with Tiffin diesel pushers prior to about 2010 or so. Tiffin is covering the cost of repairs up to a certain length of time, but I don't know what that time is. I would definitely call Tiffin. Have your VIN handy when you call.

Thank you all for the help! I got ambitious (stupid) and pulled the fresh water tank. From then on I was committed (admitted). Got everything out and going to go get some marine grade plywood tomorrow. Along with a few cans of undercoat.

Thanks again

I believe you made the right call. Red Bay is quite a distance from New York. You can buy a lot of marine plywood and do it yourself

Tiffin has a new plastic sub floor. Maybe they will send one to you at no cost since you have already started to do the work yourself.

I agree with Paz. The two I did, Tiffen sent the plastic sub floor and it'll NEVER rot from water. Call them. It never hurts to ask.

You'll have to jack up and tie up the right end of the black & grey tanks as well as cutting the opening on the access panel to slide the new floor in.

I have a 2007 Open Road 35 TSA gasser. Is this an issue I should be concerned about?

Does anyone have a write up on how to do the repair?

I recently noticed that our 03 needs this as well :( I contacted Tiffin and they told me that they only cover mhs under 8 yrs old. Older units are at owners cost - they said it was about 20 hrs of labour + parts.

Let us know. Thanks,
Mike

This is not an issue on the gassers.
