HGC been there done it with a new 11 Phaeton, My life was not going to be long enough to keep the unit fixed, so I gave up took the lose and moved on. I believe job 1 could be a lot better on all brands, but RV's are where American autos were 20 years ago for quality. Darn shame!

I heard they had a lightning strike on a pole in the lot - met the RVer who was in the spot where it hit - and have been struggling back ever since. WiFi still for the birds. We use Verizon Hotspot - grandfathered account with unlimited data.

HI Grizz427!
I am truly amazed at the endless problems of your LA.I remember my sales rep telling me that Tiffen is putting out around 18 units per day. Now we know that you must "make hay while the sun shines" but according to the sales hype we were told that Tiffin was a quality builder and that quality was a key issue between brands. Well, seems times have changed and Tiffin has the"tail wagging the dog". This lack of quality control is laughable in any other manufacturing sector. We are so disappointed with this unit as is Grizz. We sympathize with you and must admonish those that haven't experienced these type and number of problems to lay off blaming the user for any of this. All of our money is full value American right? Why can't we expect the same in product? I frankly am tired of fixing things due to their lack of care and rush of production. And my dealer still has yet to begin on the 26 items left for them to take care of IF THEY CAN. It is almost laughable ! Snookered we are!!

Tiffin builds 12 units a day and will not increase the production rate per Bob Tiffin. I suggest you give him a call, if you don't believe me. Better yet, take a trip to Red Bay and watch coaches being built, QC'd and shipped. Might change your opinion and give some perspective on the motorhome industry.

Grizz's problems started with an electrical overload (which he finally admits on page 3 or 4 of this thread). These are complicated and difficult to fix. I met a couple who had a similar set of issues with a lightning ground strike near their coach which took out most of the chassis electrical and a good part of the coach as well. It took Freightliner about a month to get the engine running and Red Bay a couple of months to get everything working again. No compaints from them, btw.

So you all know my problems did not start with a power surge. My first problems started with the pump on the legs and front slider that caught FIRE in Memphis Tenn. KOA campground. Surge was at least 7 months after we purchased it and a lot of the problems started back when it was just a few months old. We were traveling and using unit the hole time.

Ok I am a bit confused by the time line here could you possibly give us a chronology of your problems and where you were at when they stated.

I noticed you said in this post that your hydraulics went out when you were in Memphis KOA. In an earlier post you said the hydraulics when out when you were only 4.5 hours away from tiffin if I understood that correctly. You mentioned a lot of problems with the unit when you had ownly had it for 5.5 months but here you said you did not have the electrical surge until you had owned it for at least 7 months. I am trying to figure out what happened because of the surge or what happened in manufacturing. I also agree that QC could be done better by all of the MH manufacturers. But I also consider what I read on here and a lot of people like yourselves get in and start having problems over 500 miles or close to 1000 miles. I do not know about you but I would not like it if I went to buy my new coach and it had 1000 miles on that had been put on as part of the QC checks. Loose connections might not be loose enough to show up in the QC checks but road vibrations will loosen them more and they show up later. This kind of problem is something you have to either live with, Buy a used unit with all of the new problems fixed or as you have suggested go back to tent camping. I have never purchased a new stick and brick home. I can tell you however that I have a lot of friends that have done that and almost all of them will tell you that they will never do it again. It was a nightmare trying to get the contractor to come back and fix items that were not done correctly. My wife is a real estate attorney some of the stories she tells about contractors will curl your hair. At least no one I have seen post has had to go to court to have their problems taken care of. There seems to be a lot of posts where Tiffin has fixed problems that have gone out of warranty and they do not seem to have a problem doing that. I was near Red Bay in my car while I had my MH about a 100 miles away ( I was visiting friends in the area and wanted to see the Tiffin Factory Tour. While on the tour the tiffin guide was asking about my MH I told them it was a 2005 Allegro Bus. The first thing they asked was if I had it with me and I told them it was about 100 miles away. They told me I needed to come and have my wet bay area checked for an issue they had with them. I am not saying any MH dealer is a saint but there are a lot of posts about how people that build homes would not get by with this and I can tell you they do a lot worse and it costs the owner a lot of money in legal fees to get it taken care of.

I have a 2012 36la. The main room slide topper did not have a support bracket. It should have per Dometic specs.
Tiffin should have installed this at the factory. However, with only one phone call this past summer, they agreed and offered to have one installed free of charge on this 2 year old coach. I opted to install it myself and they shipped me the parts..

We got our 36LA a month ago this week & had only 2 items that Tiffin allowed to be fixed at non-Tiffin repair shops.

Really happy with our choice!

Always good to hear some one has got a winner. Would not wish problems on any one. Hope you enjoy your new camper. I can't wait to get back out on the road already going stir crazy sitting and waiting for ford to finish so I can move on to next thing to be fixed. I can feel Florida calling my name to come to the warmth of the sun.
