Thanks so much. How does the gray water by-pass work? Do you need to run the sani-con with that, or does it just by-pass it. It would appear to be slow with the diameter of the hose?

The by-pass is just a small tube that runs from the intake directly to the drain hose. Best I can tell, as you are emptying the black tank everything (usually) is sucked up past it. After I have flushed the black tank, I open the gray tank. If it's full I pump it out also. It rarely has anything in it. When I hook-up I make sure I pump some water through the drain hose to make sure it is full and syphoning. Then I just leave the gray valve open. Showers or the washing machine may back up a little in the tank, but it will syphon out fairly quickly. It has enough flow rate that any normal water use in the coach will not come close to filling the tank. I checked mine as the washer ran. It showed 1/3 full. A few minutes later it was empty. Just keep an eye on the by pass tube to make sure it doesn't get clogged when you are emptying the black water. That almost never happens, but if it does and you are counting on the gray tank to syphon, you could have a problem with the gray tank filling while you think it is emptying. I always keep a check on the tank levels just to be sure.

It takes about 30 seconds to hook-up or stow the drain hose. No mess. It does take a little longer to empty the full tanks as opposed to the 3" hose. Oh well. My drain at the house is over 50' away a little uphill. I suggest that if you install one, get a extra 21' section of the 1" hose. It's about $80 at RV Upgrades. Some of these campgrounds have sewers over 20' away, but I haven't run into one yet that the connection was over 40'. If you have big feet you can fit it a shoe box. Don't use anything less than the 1" hose. They say it is OK to use a 3/4" hose, but try to find one that has true 3/4" fittings on it. I just replaced my pump/macerator because of over stressing the pump with a less that 1" hose. The extra hose is cheaper.
