Most of the cops I know, including myself, would respond to this in a heartbeat. If a dealer did this on our RVs we'd prosecute for theft. Just find a cop with an RV (lots of them out there). They'll be sympathetic.

Straighten them out
Yes, this happened to be at an Olds dealership many years age. They took off my plate frames and threw them in the trunk. This is the same dealership that did warranty work without giving me an invoice (required by law). Come to find out they have forged my name on 2 invoices. Look out.

Just because some business owner posts a sign doesn't mean that it overrules local laws. They're just trying to limit people complaining about their carelessness, in most cases.
Sounds like he handled it calmly and is finished pursuing it.

Sounds to me like some mechanic liked your custom chrome plates. Time for a little talk with the service manager.

They didn't say hundreds of thousands they said hundreds to thousands. And yes, there are frames that can sell for upwards of $1000 dollars.

Ahhhh....I see my reading comprehension got the better of me once again. Thanks for clarifying and yep, there’s definitely frames in the $1,000+ category.

I'll buy you some new frames. This thread is trivial in the big picture.

When I was a kid, my dad bought a brand new pickup truck. When he went to get it from the dealer, he realized they had drilled two holes in the side of the truck, and installed a metal placard with the dealership name on it. My dad was livid. He said now the truck would rust where they had drilled the holes. He insisted they remove the emblem immediately, fix the holes and repaint the fender. Amazing how fast the price got reduced on his new truck.

Respectfully disagree. Having a dealership remove something from your Coach and throwing it away is not trivial, and should not be accepted anywhere.
If they had only installed their dealership frames, then I would agree. My trashcan has been the beneficiary of many of these dealership license plate frames!

The removal of the tags is not trivial
I agree, but the thread is.
In my opinion.
