shore power roof heat
I drive a Tiffin 2004 Phaeton, I'm new at this and need a lot of help. I've got it hooked up to shore power, I can't get the roof fans to come on, I have the thermostat on electric heat.I have it set on 75 and the room temp. is 72.,I have switch it over to gas heat just to get it warm it up inside, then went back to electric heat. Can anybody please tell me what I'm doing wrong? If I start the gen, the roof air will work, but will blow cold air. Please Help, Thanks

Did the roof air units ever produce heat previously? IOW, are you sure the roof AC units are also Heat Pumps?

Air conditioner units have an option for a heat strip the few that I have seen working didn't produce much heat. Others are equipped with heat pumps built into the air conditioning unit. You may not have either one we use an electric heater when temperatures get real cold to suplement the gas furnace.

I think the diff of only 3 degrees isn't enough. One other thing I've seen work is to have fan in on position and not auto. Kick termostat up to 80 with electric heat and fan in on position and see what happens. I've been using my electric heat and had termostat at 71 degrees and when temp gets to 72 it turns off and then on again at 71. Outside temp can play with heatpumps, when outside is below 38-40 degrees. Dave
