Shore power to inverter

I have a question about the correct way to go from shore power to inverter. Lets say my residential refer is running on shore power and I need to unplug. Should I turn off the refer breaker, disconnect, then turn breaker back on so the inverter will sense the call for power to the refer or just unplug and the inverter does it automatically without using the breaker? I know how sensitive these refers are so I want to keep it happy as possible. Thanks

I have always just unplugged without flipping any breaker. The inverter will automatically start providing AC to the refer almost instaneously. Never had a problem doing it this way for 7 years.
