Slide out motor issue??

2005 Zephyr..the driver side bedroom slide is electric, when I push the extend button to let it out it will just click. Sometimes it will go right out, sometimes not. The motor runs fine when it runs, but it never does it coming in, only out. Today it wouldn't go out it would just click, I had to get my wife to push the button and I tapped the motor and it went out fine. Is the motor completely bad or does it have some kind of adjustment?

My Bounder has Power Gear slide and Leveler systems. If yours are also PG try this if they are not disreguard.
The motors have electromagnetic brakes on the ends under a rubber boot. These brakes have been known to collect moisture and corrode. The brakes are to prevent the slide or levelers from moving unless power is applied. The brakes can be removed by removing the rubber cover and removing 3 small screws and pulling the brakes off. Check for corrosion. With the brake off run the slide in and out. If it runs smooth replace the brake, it's a lot cheaper than the motor.
Before removing the brakes connect a 12 VDC source to the power connector at the motor. A battery charger works well. Put a 15 amp fuse inline with the hot lead. If the problem is still there with the battery charger then the trouble is in the motor or brake. If the slide runs smooth with the battery charger the trouble is with wiring, switches or relays.

A good question for the Tiffin help line. Give them a call at 256-356-0261 normal business hours. Be sure to have the last 6 digits of your serial number handy. I have never had that problem, just the front DS slide shear bolt one time. I carry a spare.
