My 2017 Phaeton 40AH has a cross bar in front and back. The one in front would hit the lip of the SnapPad P/S jack pad and the one in the rear would hit the SnapPad lip on the D/S. The cross bars are not centered front or back. For some unknown reason it seems that no two like models of Phaeton's are the same as far as the cross bar. The SnapPad people told me the following.

"The main concern with the rear jack is if the SnapPad interferes with the retraction of the jack. If it touches the cross beam but the jack can fully retract then you can leave it as is. Several customers are using SnapPad this way with no issues.

That said some customers cut notches in their SnapPads anyway, using a dremel or a sawz-all.

For the front jacks ideally you could align the existing gap in the lip to accommodate the cross beam. Again, if you need to cut small notches that is acceptable. Just try to make them as small as possible."

My SnapPads should arrive this week, will just see what I need to do when I see how big a lip the SnapPad has.

What I meant to ask is why add these to the jacks. The feet seem to be pretty big already. Is it just for looks.

I had not heard of these before. Jeff

When I had my gas coach, the biggest advantage was the thickness of the pad would add an extra inch to the Jack extension. I used to have troubles leveling sometimes because the jacks would reach their maximum travel before the coach would be level. By adding the extra thickness on the Jack pad, it kept the jacks from fully extending. I also noticed that the larger size of the pad cut down on some of the movement of the RV when walking around inside.

Installed my Snap Pads a couple of weeks ago. Installation was very easy as I had used SP’s on a previous fifth wheel. I did not have to notch out the pad. The rim of the pad did touch the cross bars in two places when retracted but the pad will tilt a little so no problem with the jacks fully retracted.

I don't know which Allegro Bus you have, but we have them on our 45LP (2015) and have not had any problems with them.

Just one of those things that make life just a tad simpler. If you do 10 or 20 little things like this, add them up, and it makes life a whole lot simpler.
