SOS Check Engine Light 2012 Allegro Bus

Hey Everyone

My husband and I are about 4 hours into a 9 hour trip to Rhode Island (from Toronto area). Suddenly our check engine light has come on and every 10 minutes or so there is a beeping. We pulled over and turned it all off for about 20 minutes…called Tiffin…had to leave a message and so far no one has gotten back to us.

We pulled over checked the oil, water level…all seems to be ok. DEF is about 1/4 full. This is our 3rd big trip in the rig since we bought it last summer (it has over wintered in a heated RV garage at home). We took it out for 2 shorter trips earlier this spring with no issues.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Susan, John & the dogs

I suggest you stop at a place that can scan for error codes. It could be a loose connection, water in fuel, overheat, etc. Does the engine 'derate' or limit itself? It's too expensive to ignore, find out what's going on and be sure.

Instead of calling Tiffin I would call the engine mfr.

Well we have stopped…twice now at different diesel repair places…code unknown…it is suggested we keep driving until we can get it into a Cummins shop. sigh… 12500 Km on the unit…so about 7500 miles. Thanks for you input everyone!

While you are waiting you might pick up a couple of gallons of DEF and add that to the tank. Quarter tank might be getting on the low side, I have no idea how those little squares are calibrated. Just a thought, cheap fix if that's the problem.
