Stiff seat belt receptacle problem?
I noticed that the seat belt receptacle on my new 2014 Tiffin Allegro, 31SA was stiff and awkward to get to, then rotated backward and got stuck there as I used it.
When examining the problem, I noticed there were no washers in the set-up, just a bolt holding the end of the buckle strap to the seat, so every time I went to buckle-up, it got tighter 'til it stayed almost vertical.
The fix: I got a washer for under the head of the bolt (1/2" inside diameter) and a large area (fender) washer to place between the plastic sheath that the strap is supported by and the seat frame that it bolts into. The fender washer was 2" in diameter with a 1/2" hole.
I had to pull the strap out of the plastic sheath that supports it and then drop the smaller washer down to the end to get it in place. I wanted it under the head of the bolt. I then put the strap back into the sheath and had to use the end of a screwdriver to pull it all the way in. Then I put the bolt back through the washer and the end of the strap and put the larger washer on last. All this got bolted back in the hole in the seat frame and I snugged it up until it stayed where I wanted it, but could still move it. The nut is welded to the frame and has self-locking threads, so it doesn't need to be torqued down tightly, just snuggly.
I fixed the passenger seat the same way. Only trip we've made was bringing it home, but this was bugging me, so I knew I had to do something with it. I'm hoping this is just one of a few bugs I'll need to work out on this new rig... Time will tell.
Hope this helps if you have experienced this too. See pic of what I'm talking about.
