Switching to LED ceiling lights

Any good suggestions on where to purchase LED ceiling light fixtures?

Most full service RV dealerships sell light fixtures and catalogues like Camping World. I did not change my fixtures, but I did take a bulb out to find LED bulbs that I could switch out. The nice thing is besides saving on electricity the fixtures and bulbs do not get hot. Once you find the correct bulb, you can buy them in bulk and save some money.

We changed out all our lights for LEDs last year ... and looked at a number of sources. There's a pretty wide range of prices and quality in the world of LED bulbs. We looked at some of the high end stuff like the M4 products but with nearly 60 of the little 20 watt G4 base bulbs to replace .. they were a bit pricey. We looked at some of very inexpensive "no brand" bulbs we found on Amazon and eBay - but could find little about their construction and specs (i.e., # and type of SMD (Surface Mounted Device) light segments used in each bulb) - which left us feeling like they were selling simply because they're cheap.

In the end - we went with LED bulbs from Hero LED Their "5 packs" of G4 base bulbs listed specs for both the quantity and type of SMD light segments used and were roughly half the price of comparable bulbs from M4. We replaced every bulb inside the coach (roughly 65 bulbs total) - and have been using them for the last year without a single failure.

Note too that moving to LED bulbs will give you the opportunity to change the spectrum of the lighting in your coach. We purchased one package of "Cool White - 6,000K" bulbs just to try 'em out. The difference between the very "yellow" light of our old halogen bulbs compared to the "Cool White" bulbs was huge. The "yellow" light made for nice ambiance ... but with our old eyes - actually being able to see stuff are for more desirable than nice "ambiance". We did the whole coach in "Cool White" bulbs and love 'em!

This question has been around the web for quite some time. If you are talking about changing neon to LED, if you just change the bulbs and you leave the transformer (ballast) in place you are doing half the job to save energy. The ballast eats energy and if you just change the bulbs to LED the ballast is still converting 12v to a high voltage to power the neon and then the LED reduces the high voltage back down to 12v. This is nothing more than energy loss. But, if you are changing a 12v lamp for a 12v LED lamp you are good to go.

I would highly recommend GRV brand Led lights on Amazon, I have a 2005 coach and did not have to change the fittings just the bulbs. I paid on average a out 3$ each for about 25 or so.
