Good morning everyone,
We are new to this site.My wife for several reasons are selling everything and getting a motorhome.We have a lot of places to visit ,so this will be our full time home.
With this said,we have not bought one yet ,but over the next 6 months we will(or sooner) Out budget is around $15000.00 so we can leave a large savings.
We have been looking at the tiffin line found one in New York 42QRT tag axel( asking $15500.00). I under stand a salesman job is to sell the coach,but everyone of you live the life and your experience is priceless.All advice i will take into account.

You don't say what year the 42QRT is you're looking at, but I think your prices are missing a zero. If you can find a 42' Phaeton tag of almost any year for $15,500, but it.

We own a Tiffin, and are very pleased with it. Their customer service is legendary. However, Tiffin had some problems with some coaches (rotting wet bay floors, cracking roof rails, rotting slide floors), so it would be helpful to know the year.

Tiffin is covering the cost of repairs for periods of up to 8 years, but maybe the repairs have already been done to the motorhome you're looking at. The best place to have the repairs done is at Red Bay, so if they haven't been made and going to Red Bay isn't an option for you, you may want to continue looking.

I assume you really mean $150,000. and not $15,000. Please clarify. I would allow another $10,000. for fix-ups after purchase(new tires, batteries, oil, trans, all filters and belts) etc. before I hit the road full-time. It will be inconvenient and expensive if you have to deal with those items separately in some strange city(or on the side of the road... expensive X2). Personally, I would not purchase a motorhome in the rust belt. I live in the rust belt also also and did purchase my first two motorhomes(with rust) and would never do that again. I would take a weeks vacation and go to Florida, drive around each of the major dealers and learn what you want and what is available. The Tampa RV show is in January, and is maybe the largest in the country. That show generates hundreds of trade-ins... if you can't find a motorhome in Florida in January, it doesn't exist! Well worth taking a week off of work. JMHO Good luck on your new adventure.

Good morning,
I just purchased a '07 Tiffin Phaeton 40QDH. It will be mid-summer before my "bus barn" will be completed and no indoor storage is available in my area. Can anyone recommend a fabric cover that will fit this unit nicely?

Save your money. You don't need a cover to protect something that is out in the elements 100% of the time when being used. I assume you will be using it between now and when your barn is complete, right?

Camping World sells them if that's what you want.

I had a cover and found out its heavy especially when you have to drag it up on the roof. Quickly sold it!

Good morning, We just got back from dallas.Saw a lot of units there.
The Tiffin 42 QRH for 150,000 is a 2007 its in new york.We will be going to florida for a RV show look there.
For our needs we like the spartin chassis would work better for storage under the coach.
We went to a dealer out side of Dallas texas(motor home specialist) what an education we learned a lot but more confused about type floor plan,rtc.They had 450 new and used units
My wife saw a thor 2015 challenger with 3 slides (gas fuel had the ford V10??) that she likes,but not much storage under.saw a 2004 allegro for $100,000 needs tires a a few due up grades. The search will continue .

you need to look up the NADA values of the coach you're looking at and try to buy it as close or well under the low retail value.

Don't bother with adding all the options, they don't really matter buying a used unit.

Well my wife and I recently purchased a Tiffin 2014 Allegro 36 LA and we absolutely love it!

WHY you ask,

Attention to detail, roomy, bath and a half, 200+ feet of downstairs storage, L shaped coach and recliner, great entertainment package, value for the buck, on and on and on.

We found the number one reason is because of their exemplary customer service hands down. Being that our unit was a "lot" unit there were a few items that needed attention. I had the pleasure of contacting Corey Scott at Tiffin customer service and he has been able to step up to the plate and deliver on each of our problems. No haggling, no ducking, Just service!

I mean once you find a floor plan that works best for you what else matters! That's right you said it.... the company that stands behind their product and apparently TIFFIN does with excellent customer service. If you don't believe me just check the January issue of Motorhome Mag. and see that owners gave the Tiffin Allegro a GOLD METAL for Class A motorhomes. They have just released the results of their Readers Choice Awards.

We owned a Forest River prior to this unit. I had a problem with the wiring that FR did for the side cameras. I drove home from the dealer blinded as the monitor would not display any image. When I arrived home several hours later I started researching what the problem was. I was able to ferret out the culprit and corrected the situation the following morning. After reviewing a wiring diagram that I found online and performing a few nips and tucks on the wiring harness to the directionals I had success. I did incur a small cost for the wiring diagram ($30) from justask.com. While this was all documented (with pictures of burnt wires and email correspondence) when I approached FR for a rebate for the $30... they gave me a runaround and finally ended with you should have contacted us first. Oh well that was the end of FR and after the first season I Purchased my Allegro and I haven't looked back since.

Everytime we enter our Allegro 36LA we have giant smiles on!

Normally I would wish someone well on their decision but if you decide to purchase a Tiffin "Good Times" won't be a result from luck!

Not a good idea to have anything touching the bus. Farmtec.com has a 12x12x40 foot free standing cover. I put in sona tubes and raised it up 12" so I had 13' of head room in the center. The cover is called "daddy long legs" the cost is around $1700 but is totally covered for 10 years. Best of all nothing touches the rig and you can leave the roof vents open and the louvered window in the bedroom cracked, it will smell like spring in the spring. I put a 10x30' concert pad in I didn't have to park on dirt. Did I mention that I lived in Connecticut were snow, T-storms are and hurricanes come and go. Good luck or do what we did and moved to Florida.
