Tiffin Allegro 31SA toad possible?

My friend is looking at buying the 2014 Allegro 31SA. The GCWR is listed as 26,000#. She has a 2012 Ford Explorer she would like to tow. Can she tow a vehicle this size? We don't know how much the Explorer weighs, only its GVWR. How can we figure this out? Any help for us newbie ladies would be appreciated!

Welcome to irv2. The weight of the explorer can usually be found on the sticker on the door panel or the manual or by calling a Ford dealer. The towing capacity of that MH will likely be 5000 lbs.

Make sure she gets the proper info about the explorer being towable with all 4 wheels on the ground, I seem to remember some fords having issues. Can't be to sure on what a salesman tells you!

With a GVWR of 6130 I think that you would be right at or above the 5000 tow capacity without any occupants, full gas tank.

The curb weight for a 2012 Ford Explorer is listed at 4557 lbs. Curb weight is the vehicle fully fueled and no passengers. FMCA lists a 2012 Ford Explorer as towable 4-down with the only restriction being 65 mph max speed. Tiffin reports a 5000 lb hitch. So I think it works but you are probably eating into the carrying capacity of the coach by choosing a toad that heavy.
