Tiffin "Boondocker option"Hot water shower regen.

Has anyone installed a Delta R11000 3 way valve to recirculate cold water back into the water tank? Or do we just let that cold water go down the drain? Before it gets hot.

It is very simple, and no electronics, mechanical.

We use a dish pan. In the kitchen sink and shower - to catch otherwise wasted water. Then use it to flush the toilet.

The Delta valve is a diverter (tub to shower). How would you use it to send "hot" water back to cold? I have heard of using an electric pump to force the reverse cold water flow but wonder if there is a check valve somewhere to prevent this.

I like the dish pan idea. Simple and no install or maintenance involved. We already use a plastic tub in the kitchen sink just never thought of using it to flush toilets.

Friend camps on BLM sites. Installed a 12v pump on gray tank to flush toilet. Has a macerator system to pump black water to tank in pickup bed. Which also has a large freshwater tank to refill coach tank. Has a large solar array and last I talked to him he's thinking of installing a battery module out of a Tesla.
Retired Raytheon engineer loves his solitude. DW says if he can see another coach, they move.

Simple install, if you can get to shower lines. Diverter is, one in-two out and OFF position. One output to shower, other outlet to fresh water tank. Open mixing value, select fresh water tank on diverter valve. Wait long enough to flow hot water to shower, then switch diverter to shower head.

What he said, done. By the simple twist of a mechanical 3 way water valve. Following the principles of KISS.
