Tiffin Crack at slideout

I performed a search here on the Tiffin owners thread and did not see anything relevant to what I've heard as the "infamous Tiffin Crack" . I have a 2013 Zephyr about 2 1/2 months old and it developed this crack below the DS REAR slideout at the most rear part of the coach.

This occurred while at the Cummins repair facility while this baby diesel with 6700 miles on it was sitting on jack levelers. So there wasnt any stress on the body other than what it would experience on flat ground while it was in the shop.

There were a lot of comments and suggestions but none had experienced first hand. in that thread Cummins Engines - iRV2 Forums
So I am asking fellow Tiffin owners if they had this same issue come up. The solution i was told was put molding over it to cover it up. Really?? brand new flagship model of Tiffin needs molding to cover up what shouldn't have happened in the first place? I was told by Tiffin that fixing it flush would not prevent it from coming back again.

Anyones input on how they handled their problem from Tiffin owners would be appreciated. My coach is still under factory warranty since its only 75 days old (and in the shop 45 days out of the 75 already)

You know, If this has been a problem of Tiffin's for over a year, WHY wouuldn't Tiffin do the slot & moulding repair when they are building the Motorhome??? That way no one would even notice it.....IMHO

I've been following your plight and empathizing with you for the past couple of weeks. After you posted the info about your crack, I did find the following: http://www.tiffinrvnetwork.com/crusi...fyi/FYI-12.pdf This person refers to the "Infamous Tiffin Crack Problem" which does lead you to wonder just a bit. The repair was done with the "piece of molding" that Tiffin described to you.

This really makes me think twice about Tiffin. Obviously the engine problem can happed with any manufacturer. That technically is not a Tiffin problem, but a Cummins problem.

The crack however is definitely a Tiffin problem. Do they think these cracks are being caused by the length of the MH? If that's the case, you would think a re-engineering with some added support structure in the area of the crack would be helpful.

We have been looking at a 40 foot Tiffin Allegro Bus.

.

Originally I was told it was due to my 45 footer with the long overhang However pictures they (Tiffin red bay service) sent me of shorter Tiffin coaches (reds) with only a few feet of overhang disputes that claim I'm getting the feeling this is another design flaw
