If you look on this forum more, there’s many more horror stories on that mike Thompson rv place. They just suck it sounds like. That’s awful.

Thanks for your input on Mike Thompson RV. I too live in SoCal and have never heard about a good service experience there. I am vacillating between a Winnebago View and a Tiffin Wayfarer, but knowing that Mike Thompson is the only Tiffin dealer in SoCal (and a 2 hour drive for me in traffic) I keep going back to the Winnebago View. I am surprised that Tiffin even deals with Mike Thompson RV. Tiffin just doesnít seem to have the service network in place. What do others around the country do when they need service and there isnít a Tiffin dealer nearby for warranty work? I love the Tiffin side swing outside cargo doors and many of the other features that the View doesnít have, but at least I can go to a Winnebago dealer in Ventura (an hour drive) and their service department gets much better reviews. Winnebago seems to have a better dealer network. Decisions, decisions. Thank you. Rob

There are places to go other than the dealer. We found a great place in Chino if you are out that way. They only do Tiffin warranty work and usually get the work done the same day. We have been there twice and they have been awesome. I have expressed my opinion to Tiffin about Mike Thompson RV. They do a disservice to their reputation and donít deserve to be in business with a quality company. They should stick with selling Thor products as their business model is more aligned with a poor product.

Hey Joe,

Did you ever receive your second refund? Was it correct?

Yes we did. My wife hounded them daily and itís was a good thing she did or it wouldnít have happened. Mike Thompson RV couldnít get anything right and we dealt directly with the warranty company. The checks unfortunately go to Mike Thompson first and they refund you. So we had to become a pain in the ass to both to get it done. No more Mike Thompson EVER for us.

It might be in Tiffins interest to start giving bigger discounts to reputable dealers and less to crummy dealers. Take feedback cards after one year from purchase on how customers like or dislike their dealer and the experiences they've had. Highly rated dealers maybe could get a deeper discount from Tiffin. Those dealers that have poor feedback would pay higher for their inventory. It could be an incentive for dealers to clean up their act!

I bet if you asked Mike Thompson what they thought of Davis, Sherman or Ingram they would not be pleased. Probably feel they deserve the SoCal business however poorly they perform.

Great idea, only one problem. It's Illegal under federal franchising laws along with lower cost for large dealers over small dealers. Every dealer selling a manufacturers product under franchise must pay the same price for a given product.
