Putting wood/plastic or whatever under the MH tires once parked for couple months.....Is it neccessary to do so? If so, what's the purpose? Assuming normal campground grass/sand or concrete.

I don't see where putting wood under tires would do anything versus just staying parked on grass, dirt or concrete. Wood absorbs moisture so I just don't see the point. If your using the wood to help level then that's a different story. I have never put anything under my tires regardless of what I'm parked on.

The reason you should put a wood, cardboard or plastic barrier between the tires and concrete is to prevent the leaching of chemicals from the tires into the concrete. Have you ever noticed the tire treads clearly marked where you parked on the concrete? Those marks are oils that have beel pulled out of the tire.

I always assumed that the barrier was to prevent migration INTO the tire until a tire engineer corrected me. I asked about wood, carpet, plastic, etc. He recommended cardboard.

I've never put anything under my tires and have never noticed any damage from it.
