I tow a 2015 Chevy Malibu - 3200lbs - first with a Thor ACE, now with our Tiffin Allegro 32 SA. We've been from MD to Maine and most recently to AZ and back. Only issue was getting the front of the Malibu speared by a road gator. I'll be getting a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited when the 2018's come out.

Decide what you'd like in a tow vehicle, then do your research. I wanted 4 doors with a decent back seat and 4K lbs or less. The Jeep may be a little heavier, but having towed the Malibu through the mountains without any issues, I'll go a little heavier as I have a comfort level now. It will affect gas mileage - but we don't worry about it. Saves in car rental expenses which more than makes up for it.
