Transmission Question
Hello;
We just took delivery of our new 2013 Allegro 36' foot gas with the Ford V10 Triton engine and had an "interesting" situation come up, that our dealer helped us out with over the phone, but I wanted to ask the community their thoughts to see if it has happened to others.
We were sitting in the parking lot ready to back into our storage spot, went to put it into gear and nothing happens. I could shift the column up and down and it would not engage any gears. It would just rev, our dealer talked us through many different checks and we were able to get it back to "normal". Basically, he had me turn the coach on and off a couple of times and then we walked through the turning on of the vehicle. That is, we turned it once and then into acc mode etc and all of a sudden we were back in park gear and everything seemed to work OK. we were to drive forward, backwards etc.
The dealer explained that sometimes if you back up or go forward and have not stopped completely and put it into a gear (that is a rolling stop etc.) that it acts as a protection for the transmission due to weights of the coach etc. I had not heard of this before, however I know that transmissions have many protective measures built into them and that it is also possible that it was a computer generated "bug" that was simply corrected after turning the vehicle on and off several times, and "resetting" the computer for the transmission.
Everything seems fine now, however I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this or if there is something else that I should look into.
Thanks
Dan
