I knew I should have ran back up to direct the DH thru a few Yosemite trees. I actually was videoing him turning into this gorgeous campsite...dream spot, no one around, on the river!

We were dry camping for a few days. I don't know how he totally did not see a tree he had just passed, but he backed into it.

Just amazing how much damage can happen on that fiberglass! It's not that bad, but all the way up are some paint cracks, a small dent, one tail light protruding, but everything still works.

Now the hard part deciding whether to have it doctored up or completely replacing a lot of the rear . Then worrying how long the expensive route would cost and be. My husband feels so badly. He had a hard time enjoying himself. I go in stride a lot easier than he does.

Anyone have any notes on the best repair work done in southern cal, I'd sure appreciate it! We really need advice on the repairs. Thnx!

I once saw a Dodge Charger with a 4" Live Oak tree between the tire and engine up against the windshield. After the vehicle was moved the tree barely had a scratch.

We carry and use Walkie Talkies, they have saved us from many trees.

Fiberglass is very easy to repair. If you were up my way I'd have a list of great places you could get it done.

it happened 2 seconds after I put the camera down.

To add to my previous post I neglected to state that we now have radios since a meeting with a tree.
Lucky only small scratches.

Sounds like it may be a big enough repair that your insurance company should handle. Just pay the deductible and move on. It happens.

Tree's not bad when we were down in red bay some fellow backed into a telephone pole broke it in half knocked the power out and damaged the rear end of his camper in the campground parking lot just out side of the paint shop where they do the plastic repairs

Thnx for the comments everyone. We plan on repairs soon, back in storage until we schedule some estimates. Our city doesn't allow RVs on the street for more than 3 days.

We glanced off a rock wall alongside the highway in NC (really narrow twisty road I had been warned off of but ...) took off the PS main awning and LR and BR slideout toppers and did serious paint damage to the wall between the two slideouts. Had to replace the dummy door for the wet bay. We were on the way to Red Bay as it happened so we had it fixed there by Dave McKinney. Came out pretty good, cannot tell it has been repaired.

My insurance company paid all but the deductible and then raised my rates by about a quarter of what they paid out! Still with 'em because the full stated value replacement coverage has a couple of more years to run. Repair time was a week and then 4 more days while a new awning that was damaged in shipping was replaced. We lived in the coach through out the repair, sometime in CRB and other nights in the paint bay or service bay.

Paul, we worried about the rates going up too. My husband so far has had good conversations with repair and insurance people. We did not have as much damage as you. I am sorry, you must have been sick about it!

I will come back on the post once more after the repairs are done. Thnx again for the info. The tiffin rep gave us some places for repair, one being where we bought it. That was a surprise.

I too have had a tree just pop up out of nowhere. Pulling into Ventura RV park in the previous MH the thing just sprang up and took off the awning arm and a bunch of paint. It was definitely an insurance claim, even with my high deductible. I have heard that Final Touch Coach Works in Valencia does excellent work...haven't used them but they have a good reputation. Also you might call Mike Thompson RV, a Tiffin dealer, and ask for a recommendation. Long story, but before purchasing this Allegro they were bringing one to Fountain Valley for my inspection. They drove it into a wall and took out all the bay doors on the passenger side. Said they could fix it if I still wanted it, but I declined. I'm sure they found or have someone who did some major body repair on the brand new coach. National Interstate did not raise my rates for the one accident mentioned above.
