Under Bed Storage

On my 2014 Phaeton 40 QBH, there is only half the area under the bed for storage. The rear half is enclosed. Does anyone know what is in this enclosed area? I would like to open it up for more storage.

Under the bed is wiring and heating ducts among other things. Also I think the bed sits above the bays.

I'd check for what's behind and under that space. It could be part of the engine compartment, a slide mechanism, or some other necessary item. RVs generally try to use all available space, they don't leave half a bed sized void just empty.

On mine when you bring in the slide you can lay down and look in the opening up by the head of the bed. Not much in mine except the sleep number bed pump. But when you send out the slide the empty space gets smaller. I don't think you would have any space that could be used. I stuck my phone in there and took a couple of pictures too just to see what was there.

Not any really usable space there. Some wiring, and structural stuff, slide parts and such....at least on my 2015.
