what class trailer hitch do I have

08 allegro bus, 10,000 lb towing capacity, is this a class 4 trailer hitch or class 3? are the classes determined by weight? Looking for the correct height ball mount and they are listed as class 3 or 4 on e-trailer, thx

The class would be determined by how much weight you intend to tow.

Not many answers here. But that is a great question. I looked at a lot of Tiffins at the Pomona RV show a while back and saw the 10,000 lb tow rating of the RED and was impressed. I didn't crawl under to look, but the receivers looked like class IV to me. I didn't get to speak with a Rep but the sales guy said the RED has a class IV as the specs indicate it has a 10,000 tow capacity. I did look at a hitch on the Allegro gas model and it was a class III hitch rated at 6,000 lbs. Some of those truck chassis super C models have class V hitches rated at 12,000 lbs and use a 2.5" receiver.
