What to look for

A Tiffin DP is on our list of possible coaches for going FT in a couple of years. Cost is definitely a major concern. Based on current prices, it looks like we're looking at something that is going to be 10-12 years old. What issues have surfaced for 2002-04 coaches? I already understand that appliances may well be on their last legs at that point, so we'll budget for them. What else?

Also, in looking at the various DP coaches listed at PPL, it seems that prior to 2002 the bed was generally placed with the head up against the rear wall. From 2002 on, the bed is in a slide, and placed crossways. Neither looks to be a deal-breaker, but we generally prefer the older style. Did Tiffin change along with everyone else then?

I haven't heard of any real problems with the older Tiffin Motor Homes aside from the double paned glass fogging up. You should check out the Tiffin RV Forum, it also has a classified section with a lot of Tiffins for sale.

David, with the bed in the slide you get closets and other storage or possibly a washer/dryer across the rear of the MH. Fulltiming you're probably going to need the storage space. In the no rear slide models with the head of the bed at the rear of the MH, you're quite limited on closet and storage space.
