At my recent FL service, I also requested that my 10K genny be serviced also. I specifically asked about cleaning the spark arrestor and the Gaffney FL rep told me that my genny did not have one.

I'm no expert, but you might call FL and ask if the newer units have a spark arrestor. Hope he knew what he was talking about.

Maybe spark arrestor is on gasser gensets, not oil burners? I look forward to future posts for clarification.

I'd google search for the specific manual online then compare the pdf with your unit. Might of been some changes along the way.

If there is one it would be somewhere in the exhaust system. If seperate from the muffler I would guess that it would be after the muffler. Larger engines most likely use the muffler for both purposes. Will look keep up with the post to find out the true facts.

On our Onan 8k the carbon clean out plug is accessed from below genset up along exhaust pipe. Need to use a long ratchet extension. I do it about every 500 hrs.

I suspect you have one. Get your s/n off the genset and call Cummins Onan customer support.
