Wifi Extender

Ordering a Wayfarer and not clear on the options for wifi. Not interested in tv reception. Just want my mac book, iPad and cell phones to be optimized.

I talk to Verizon and they have a simple solution apparently.
Tiffin has the King Extender available as an option.

What actually works and is cost effective.

Old guy that knows just enough about tech to be dangerous.

Thanks in advance. Tired of searching and getting more confused.

Such a tough question to answer, and I don't mean to be evasive. So many things factor into what will work for you such as distance to cell towers, how much will you use your items per month. The most basic thing to start with is using your cell phone as a hotspot. If you aren't downloading video from Netflix and so forth, it may be enough for you.

I, like many others, require plenty of data and good wifi. Nowadays it takes a little bit of money to accomplish this. I suggest you look at Neal and Turbopilot and their thoughts on the subject if a basic setup is not enough for you.

I use an AT&T Netgear MiFi device. I also have a WeBoost in case I need to boost the signal some.

Best,
-Mark

On my Verizon Note 2 cellphone I turn on "Mobil Hotspot"

Our computers and tablets then connect to it. No need for anything else.

What problem are you trying to address ?

There are two different things talked about in this thread. The King Extender is a device that connects to an available WiFi network (e.g. campground) while the hotspots (either via phone or a dedicated device) use the cell network for connection to the Internet.

Both provide a private WiFi network within the coach for devices to connect to.

How is the use of the "available WiFi network (e.g. campground)" private? Unless you can employ a VPN which I know not much about. Not being critical but wishing to be educated. Thankshttp://www.irv2.com/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif

If you use a extender in a RV park with over loaded other users it will still be slow. If you want speed buy a hot spot from Verizon and you have private secure WiFi and speed up to when you use up your data plan an you can buy more bu the month.
