Winegard Traveler install (front or rear)
We have a 2011 Allegro Bus that came from the factory with the Winegard Roadtrip mounted on the front portion of the coach.
The coach is pre-wired for the Winegard Traveler. The mounting position is on the rear where the wires are covered with a cap from the factory.
Has anyone used this rear mounting position to install The Traveler?
I have not seen any Allegro Buses with a Traveler mounted on the rear of the roof.
My concerns are clearance and reception.
Thank you.

Are you planning to keep the Roadtrip? If not, I would probably put the Traveler in its place. On the rear of the coach is not a problem per se, only I find wooded spaces sometimes more blocked to the rear than the front.

I see lots of Buses and Phaetons and other motor homes with the Travler mounted on the rear. With the pre-wire already there I would mount it right where Tiffin meant for it to be. It looks like you have plenty of room for it.

Mine is mounted on rear and no, you do not mount it over the roof access point. You mount it behind the roof access point. Although it is not required for mounting, Tiffin may or may not have mounted a metal plate under the fiberglass in that rear area. A quick call to Tiffin should help you out.
The access point should contain three coax cables labeled SAT1, SAT2, and SAT3. There will also be a control cable for the dish. All of these wires are then routed to your entertainment center.
If you want to mount it in place of your dome, you will have to find a way to route the control cable back to your entertainment center. The best thing is mount it on the rear where the cabling is located.

Over the years, I think that I have been in many more sites that would have been a problem for a rear mounted dish that a front mounted one. I can't give any numbers but that's my feeling after have a front mounted dish for over 15 years.
