Wiper Blades Do Not Work
I am new to a Class A and have just purchased a 36QSH Phaeton. Everything is great, the only problem is that the Windhsield wipers don't work. I can get them to go on when I hit the windshield washer button, but not otherwise. I changed the fuses as indicated in the owners manual, but still no wiper operation. Anyone with a similar problem?

SN716, All 12 volts problems should immediately rule out ground connections and second contact to the wiper motor via edge connectors. Rule out ground and connections at the wiper motor first.
Just curious? Salt Lake City SSN-716 conducted an inactivation ceremony in San Diego on 26 October 2005, then departed for a transit under the polar ice. On 15 January 2006 she was decommissioned at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Over a year later, the hulk was taken under tow, arriving on 8 May 2007 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, where she will be recycled and scrapped.

Do you have the wiper controls on the steering wheel (Smart Wheel) or separate controls somewhere else?
If the wipers work with the washer control, I would guess the grounds are ok.

That's too bad to hear. I got a visit aboard that boat back at North Island San Diego back in the '90's. It was one cool piece of machinery.

Steve,
You may not be operating the wiper control correctly. You said you "hit the windshield washer button". You need to rotate the inner dial of the switch to get the w/s wipers to work. Let us know what happens with that and we'll
try and diagnose further.

Embarrasingly - that was our problem - the inner dial is a bit hard to turn (Right/clockwise BTW) so we couldn't get them to come on. After a call to tech support we were redfaced but we had wipers.....

Hey, the important thing is that you got them working now when you need them. They are certainly NOT the most intuitive control to use.

You can add me to the unimpressed with the Phaeton's wiper control knobs. Best not have any arthritis.

Actually the same control knob is used by Fleetwood on Discoveries et al. Maybe it is a Freightliner knob? Anyway - not just a Phaeton deal. Nonetheless - it could be better.

I saw a post where the guy added an extension to the knob. It is really awkward to use when you have a bunch of bananas like me. If anyone knows of this extension please post.

Gary, the Smart Wheel does not come on the Phaeton. I certainly wish it did. Like Hydro Hot and all electric, Tiffin only puts that in the Allegro Bus and Zephyr.
