A local dealer has a 2001 Allegro Bus available. The owner died and the widow has let it sit for over a year. It has less than 40K miles so it has been parked alot.
Could this be a good deal or a headache?
Thanks for you opinions.

It could be a good deal but I would take it somewhere for a complete inspection. Just understand that anything like boats, rvs, and airplanes do not like to sit very long. Things break and as long as you go into with that in mind and the price is right, you may have a winner. If you get it below book (whole sale) set some funds aside to get the bugs out. Good luck! I personally would go for it as long as the price is in your favor. Would the seller let you have it for an overnight personal inspection??

I agree 100% with David. Inspect it very closely and expect to have some issues from having sat so much. Factor that into your buying price. Good luck.

Along with what's already been said, if that MH has the original tires on it figure on a new set irregardless of how much tread is showing. They'll soon be 9 years old and could be going on 10 years and may have age related issues. They'll have a code date on them.

We took a longer look at the bus. The floorplan would require a lot of comprises on our part and it was starting to look its age. The real deal breaker was water dripping in one of the storage compartments just in front of the engine. The water had left white crystals on the carpet. It was strange as the rig should not have had any water in it except for the engine cooling system. We came home a lot happier with our 5vr. The only thing we don't like about our rig is the way the couch and chair sit. So it is a lot easier to buy a couple new chairs than to keep shopping for a replacement.

There will always be other deals. Water no matter where it is, can cause a serious problem in any motor home. Was the area belong the refer by chance?
