05 Rev Steps Not Operating

Worked this morning, not this afternoon.

Checked a fuse in the marked on the sheet for the step power in the drivers side front bay, but it looks intact.

Any pointers here on these non-functioning Kwikee Steps?

Start by lubing the step.

Probably a corroded ground. There is a ground wire connected to a bolt on the frame behind the steps. Un do it, clean the contact and reattach. Just did this on my Rev and problem solved.

It's better to check the fuse with a meter rather than eyeballing it. A fuse that looks good can still be bad.

1) Steps were just lubed
2) I've searched some posts, and watched the video on their site (just couldn't get back to this post as I hopped in the drivers seat) and will check that ground first thing when we stop for the night.
3) I'll change the fuse anyway - it looks a little... old

Good luck. Hope it's something simple.

ME TOO!!! I was hoping I could just make one , just one, (it's not much to ask) just one trip without having to fix something.

ALMOST - I'm 1000 miles from home...

There are two fuses. Step Motor and Step Switch. They were both in the BCC on my Bounder.

There is a magnetic door switch on your door frame that tends to go bad. The function of the switch is that any time the door is opened the steps will come out. If the above replies don't pan out, tap on the switch with the door open and see if it triggers them to open. If that fails then loosen the switch (maybe screws or double back tape) and touch a grounded test wire to the connections one at a time, if this triggers the step then it is the switch if IT ONLY WORKS ON ONE of the wires, if it triggers on both wires you have a bad ground from that switch, you can rig a temp ground until you get home if it is a big deal to get in and out.

Something between the changing of the fuses, beating on it, wiggling it, shining a flash light at it while using very strong and colorful language, and recycling the ignition worked... can't say for sure which it was.

totally right on there being two fuses, luckily i looked deeper into the paper hastily taped up in the bay and found the second fuse. No idea if changing them helped, but they are new now!

Getting through a single trip with zero RV repair bills would be like nailing a nice scratch off card !

I totally forgot that I had the pleasure of paying CAT 1700 bucks for a new wastegate solenoid on this trip....

Magic words always help (at least that's what I told my daughter they were whenever I attempted plumbing repairs).
