I did a search here and didnt find anything. I'm sure there ae 100's of threads I just couldn't find them.
Hopefully someone can help.
Does anyone have a rough estimate of the dry weight of a 1978, 36' Fleetwood Prowler, 5er? Or know where I can get the specs?

Why not just take it to a scale and weigh it?

I plan to but the pin box is at the weld shop having some fabrication done so it's not able to be towed until I get that back.

As time is getting closer and I've almost got it finished so it's almost time to beable to hook on and tow it. I am starting to think more about if my truck can do it. In discusion on a truck forum I am a memeber of we feel it can no further than I am going with it. But I was guessing it at 4500-5000 empty and some of the memebers on the other forum with smaller TT's are guessing it at 13K empty.

As soon as I get the pin box back and get the hitch installed on my truck I guess we'll find out for sure who is closer, that is if I can even get it rolling. lol

I was hoping to have a better guess from the experts here that may have owned one similar in the past.

I'll guess way over 5000 lbs but well short of 13,000. A modern 35 footer would be that much, but I don't think that vintage of Prowler will be more than 10k. Will be interesting to see what it really is.

For fun, I looked at the Fleetwood brochure downloads available online; the oldest available is 1999:

1999 33.5G Fifth-wheel (no slide-outs)
GVWR 11,600 lbs.
Dry weight 7,480 lbs.
Hitch weight 1,850 lbs.
Length 33' 7"

2000 34.5B Fifth-wheel w/ slide-out
GVRW 13,600
Dry weight 9,650 lbs.
Hitch weight 1,920 lbs.
Length 35' 10"

I bet someone is looking at the GVWR and confusing it with the dry weight; of course, all RV's should be weighed to make sure you are under the gross capacity of the tow vehicle and tire-loading.

Also, it would be helpful if you posted the specifications of the tow vehicle. I once owned a 29.5D fifth-wheel and pulled it with a Ford ½ ton PU. I then went to a 27.5 but with a sofa/dinette slide-out. I switched to a Ford ¾ ton PU and was much happier with the results...
