1989 Fleetwood Bounder questions

So, another question regarding my 1989 Bounder, I was installing a different heat/ ac unit in the dash, so I could have heat again, still no air, when I realized the defrost temperature control door cable will not open close all the way, the mechanism works in the heater, but will not pull the cable back and forth. I noticed where the cable connects to the heat/ac unit itself, wire cables inside were starting to fray, not allowing to go back to cold setting. So my question is, can the wire cable be reinforced, like soldering it together at the base, or just get a whole new cable. If so with a new cable, where do you find a cable that long at? Almost got it...... Feeling frustrated

The center wire on these control cables are tempered (piano wire).
You can't solder it or it will become bendable.
HOWEVER, you said yours is getting frayed...so it is actually multi-wire cable or a solid piece of wire?

Check at the auto parts store for universal choke cable (if they are still around). You might be able to use the center part or the entire cable (it has a solid center)

I just re-read your post, for the outer part, go to a bike store and check out their brake cable housing. If you in fact have actual cable, then brake cable from the bike shop might work.

Here is the diagram you need. You will need Adobe Reader to open the files.

If you have questions, or problems with the file, just let me know.
