Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 1990 Bounder 34ft RV? I;m trying to chase a starting problem. I just bought the coach from auction and there seems to be a starter disconnect switch somewhere. I can't find it anywhere. I can turn the key on and the radio works but it won't start. I can get it started though with a remote starter. I am thinking there might be a hidden toggle switch or I might have a bad ignition switch. However, when turned to the start position, you can hear a faint click of the relay solenoid. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is it a Ford or Chevy?
The problem is probably in the small start relay (actually a solenoid) that sits between the ignition switch and the larger current handling starter solenoid.
The Bounder wiring documentation won't have a diagram since that is a chassis specific circuit.

Thanks loulong. I'll be on the lookout for that. It just dawned on me that I had a similar problem with a 2005 Winnebago Sightseer Autopark system. It was a bad relay over the fanbelt. Fixed it for $12 and dealer wanted $200 for diagnosis. Will let you know what I find.

Fleetwood will usually mail you a no charge wiring diagram, if you give them the VIN #. Call them at 800-322-8216

If it's a Ford 460 on the F53 chassis, the relay in question is located on the left inside wall of the doghouse. Open the doghouse and look at the area just opposite where your right foot would be if it were on the gas pedal. You'll see the solenoid can. Check and see if that is not what is doing the clicking. You can replace it for about $25 and a little skin off your knuckles.

Fleetwood would not be of any help on this one. They don't alter the starting circuits, so don't have diagrams of it.

Thanks for all the posts. Fleetwood was no help. They don't keep those records. It's a Chevy chassis. I tried messing with the parking brake, foot brake and shifter lever and still nothing. Can someone tell me where the neutral/park safety switch might be located? I am tracing back from the starter and can't see where the wire goes from the loom on top of the motor. It's real difficult to get under the dash to see where the ignition wire goes from the start position.
Mike

On the Ford trans that your MH would have(E4OD or some variant) it's not a NSS, it's called the MLPS(manual lever position sensor). It's on the driver's side of the trans where the shift linkage bolts to the trans. Even though its an MLPS the part store list them as a NSS. Did you check to see if you had power to the starter relay when the key is turned?

If it won't budge, hit it harder or get a bigger hammer.

Oops I missed that. I just went off somebody elses post that said "if" its a Ford. Oh well, in 3 years when somebody with a Ford searches the same problem and comes across this they will have their answer.

I bought a '92, The previous owner had a "theft deterent" wired into the starting system. It seemed to be a stupid, unreliable, cheap, alternative, but it has been reliable, for the couple times we've been out. I wonder if it's something similar. I put key in , pull headlight switch out, and depress what looks like a starter button to the left of light switch, while holding it in crank the starter, then I can push light switch in, or leave on and it purrs along. There is at least one relay in there somewhere cause I hear it. If I leave out any step I get nothing. Worth a try, Good luck

Hi All,
Thanks for the help. I found the starting problem. The neutral safety switch at the bottom of the steering column was bad. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Replaced it with one from Autozone for $18 and now that problem is solved. Now on to other ones like figuring out how to get the steps and leveling jacks working.
