Hello! Anyone out there with an old Fleetwood Flair? We just aquired this old baby (22ft) and have gotten all the basics in order: New tires, new gas shocks, oil change, tune up, generater tune up...I just got up on the roof today and boy, it's yucky! Chalky and all the caulk is shot. I am starting to eternabond everything I can see.
Does anyone know what the purpose of the roof railing is? It seems like it's up there for design only and if so, I am gonna yank it off and seal her up. Also, any good way to reinforce the ladder? The bolts on the roof seem loose and I don't know how to get them tighter...I feel like I am gonna fly off the next time I get up there...
Thanks and looking forward to hearing about other old Flairs...

The roof rail was to corral extra gear carried on the roof and provide a tie down point. Those old Flairs don't have much storage, so folks often put "stuff" up there. Plastic storage boxes work pretty good for that.

But if you don't expect to need that capability, you can certainly remove and seal it up.

I don't have any tried and true suggestions for the ladder. Maybe some kind of anchor bolt, e.g. a Molly?
