1992 American Eagle M38-j light question
Hi, not to hijack a thread but I have a question... I just took ownership of a 1992 American Eagle M38-j and there is a switch I can't figure out. What is the switch on the dash that says "docking lights" for???
BTW, I am really enjoying this thread! I am absolutely thrilled with my new ride and I can't wait to make it my own!
Thanks!
Kris

Normally they are for lights mounted on either side of the coach used mainly for backing up at night to illuminate the side areas.

Unfortunately no telling what may have been done to it over the years.
I took the liberty of making your question into it's own thread where it should get more coverage of it rather than being in an unrelated thread.

WOW! That was fast! Thanks! I am new here but have already discovered this "place" is first class! I am very active on other, non-RV forums and can honestly say, no one has ever been onboard as fast as you!!! I look forward to being a part of this group!!!

I got an e-mail notification that you posted in my thread, but could not find the post.
I guess it was moved here.
I have the docking lights switch on my dash board as well. It turns the white lights on along the side of the my motor home.
They only come on when the ignition switch is on.
No problems with asking me questions feel free to post in my project thread.
Thanks for the kind words, wish I could do some projects on the MH but it was -6 here last night.

Docking lights are located in the rear quarter panel of the coach and are for lighting up your coach at the rear as you back into, or dock at a campground. They usually only come on if the switch is in the on position and the transmission in in reverse.
Side back up light if you will.

You are 100% correct Glenn his question was moved to his own thread for the best possible chance of getting replies.

My "Docking Lights" switch turn on 4 clear side lights, 2 on each side and the switch is hot all the time.

Kris, I don't know about you, but I am not going to work on my coach until my heart rate stabilizes. Go Seahawks!

Absolutely!!! I am still shaking from that win....!!! I believe!!! Now it's time to show up, focus and put the slightly deflated Patriots in their place!
Go hawks!
BTW Randy, whereabouts in NWW are you?

Curtis, you 'da man!
Apparently, I have a little bit of redundancy going on... the "docking lights" (although all 4 sidelights) light up when in reverse (and switch on)... and the exact same lights light up (but all the time) with the just the "utility light" switch... weird, who knew...???
One thing conquered, several to go...!!!
I absolutely love this motorhome!

Ditto on the Must be in Reverse for the Lights to work- Don't know why that is?
One other item, I believe your Coach is a 39J, Don't think the Eagle came in a 38 series.
