Hi Guys,

I'm new to this RV thing and I cannot figure out how my heating system works. The gas is on (almost half a tank indicated), turn on the heater, it starts to blow air but it's cold.

I'm sure I'm missing something. Can anyone help?

It's a 35' widebody.

Also, when I try to turn on the stove I get no gas out of burners.

Thanks,

I have a 95 Jamboree, and I cannot get gas unless the sniffer is on. Mine located near the floor close to the tank. It detects a gas leak and shuts off the gas. Also detects hair spray.

Agree with fletch460. In addition, if your batteries are weak the gas detector will also probably not work. Does your refer work on gas? If not, another indicator your detector is not on or not working.

Thanks guys,

The fridge does run on gas well and indicates a problem when set to. However. I cannot find the sniffer. I crawled all over the floor this morning and don't see it. Any other hints of where it could be? Also, my batteries were low but they spent the day on charge and were tested yesterday and they're good.

Found it. It was along the floor in the hallway to the bed room. Of course it was off. Once I turned it on it went through, what I would consider, a fairly extensive self check were it beeped for about 30 seconds, maybe more.

I could hear and smell gas when I turned on the stove burners but I couldn't get them to light. The gas is low at the moment though, 1/4 indicated on the inside gauges and 1/3 on the outside gauge. Although that should be enough to light the stove.

Thanks for the help guys.

I would think there would be a lot of air in system. Try several times and if it dont light try with lighter. After mine is off awhile it takes several tries, then works good. Do you hear the lighter working?

No I don't hear the igniter working. I tried with a lighter but couldn't get it to go yet. This is just the stove. I haven't tried the furnace yet. I figured I'd start on the stove and since I didn't have luck or much time I just moved on for now. I'll give it another go this evening after work or this weekend.

Ok, got the burners working and the heaters. Just had to let it bleed the air out as you said Fletch460. On to the water system next. I think I'll start a new thread when I hit a wall though since this one is titled poorly for that conversation.

Thanks everyone

...........Sounds like you got it fixed. Probably would be a good idea for some fresh Propane, good luck.

Yep, got it working. Water works now too. Found a bad switch for the pump on that one. Unfortunately I discovered a small radiator leak I now have to look into.

Gotta love buying used. At least I got a super deal on thing and being quite handy with broken stuff.
