1998 discovery silde questions

i just bought a 1998 discovery with the driver side slide. it is the hydraulic slide system. i moved the slide out about 3 inches out and the slide was not moving out at the same pace, i stopped and brought it back in and tried it again. the slide moved about the same so i stopped and pulled it back in. when the rear of the slide butted up it stopped and left the front about an inch out. not all i hear is a click from the solenoid mounted to the pump. it will click with the push of the button in or out but no movement. i dont have the unit with me but will be traveling back to get it sat. is there a way to get the slide all the way back in for the trip home. i havnt had a chance to look at the level in the tank but will look as soon as i get back to the unit. im not sure if the paperwork that in the unit has the slide paperwork or not. i can tell you that the 6 volt (4) batteries are dead but i was plugged into shore power when the slide moved both times. any help would be great. i will take tools when i go back its about an 5 hour drive to pick it up so i want to make sure i have everything i need..
o yea the jacks work fine

thanks

I have a 2000 36T Discovery and my slides are gear motor driven with a jack shaft across the width of the slide. I was not aware they had any hydraulic systems. Does it have one hydraulic cylinder or two? My large slide on the drivers side did get cocked slightly one time and I found an obstruction on one end. Cleared that and no problem since.
I have also used a spray dry lube at least once a every spring, mainly on the underside flat surface, for smoother operation.

mine has a single pump at the back of the slide.. it has two cylinders. it was fully closed when i started the unit so there shouldn't be any blockage. im thinking the battery may not be strong enough to run the slide or the solenoid could be bad.i need to get it in before the trip home. front is out about an inch rear is flush
