1999 bounder cruise control not work

while I wait for the new coils and plugs may as well continue the project. Next on the agenda, cruise control! It has never worked since I bought the unit.

YES, the recall was performed 2 weeks ago. New brake sensor and fused jumper wire. Cruise still not working.

When I push ON, nothing happens, no light On dash. I (for fun) push set, and nothing.

Checked fuse control panel, nothing blown. Checked battery control center and all goos there too. Checked fuse panel behind onstrument panel and again all good.

Where to start?

Ford gets its CC drop out signal from two sources, the brake switch on the pedal, AND the pressure switch on the master cylinder.

ALSO - Speed is sensed on the ABS sensor thats on the top of the differential. These are a very common problem with Ford.

I have 2001 diagrams that should be close to your 99.

Hmm. ABS Sensor huh? So, this could then be related to my abs light that intermittently comes on?

Well, I think a good place to start is to fix some broken wires which I discovered.

Wire from shifter knob od switch, severed. if this one is, the cruise ones could be too. seems a steering removal is in order after all.

this connector has a broken clip. this could make it loose. going to thoroughly examine this on the weekend.

more damaged wires.

if this wasnt needed for something, would ford install it? i cant seem to find any mates to this connector inside the 'flip-up console'. it is located in the far left corner near some relays.

If you don't find the problem, try this. My previous coach 1996 Pace Arrow Vision would not energize the cruise unless I held the "set" for a couple of seconds. Weird, but that is what it took to energize, may have been a dirty connection but it worked.
