2001 Discovery 38D. Where is the propane water switch?

We just purchased a used 2001 Discovery 38D. Where is the propane water switch? We just took our coach in for maintenance and they stated the main batteries are completely dead and they said it was due to the propane switch... i don;t know what he is talking about but will find out once all work is completed. Just figured that maybe he is talking about the Propane water switch that you referenced in your post.. We have so much to learn about this motor home.

Our rig is a 2001 Southwind. Not sure how that shapes up against your Discovery but our switch is labeled microwave/hot water and it is on the front of the lower sink/counter by the cabinet door. To the left. On our 5er it was right at the entry inside of our rig. Inside of the pantry.

The switch they are referring to is the propane tank cutoff switch. This switch cuts off the propane from the LP tank that is mounted between the frame rails. You can not reach the tank, so they put a remote cutoff switch on the tank. This is a 12V switch.

In that case, ours is on the stove hood. All the switches are located there. But, ours is a Southwind.

2001 Discovery 38D. Where is the propane water switch?

Our electric switch is under the counter top lip by the kitchen sink. Our propane switch is in the right overhead cabinet along with all the other switches.

The tech was refering to the switch that turns off the propane valve at the tank. The valves are solindoid operated and run with 12v. You have two valves plumbed in series, one controlled by the propane sensor located near the floor on the wall by your kitchen sink. the other valve is controlled by a switch in the right rear storage compartment just aft of the water heater. the switch is marked "emergency cut off". If you turn off the batterys using the main and aux batttery switches on the panel above steps as shown in csrrsr's lower pix this will shut off both solinoids and should stop your battery discharge delema

Thanks for the info. I am confused as to why you would want to shut off the batteries. it is also very difficult to determine if the Main and Aux battery are on or off. When you hit either of these switches, they do not stay in an "on" or "off" position, they stay in the middle, so we have no clue if they are on or off. Do you know how to determine if they are on or off? As far as the Emergency Cut off switch, is that suppose to be on or off? My motorhome is still in the shop, so I can't look at the switch. Should it be in the "up" or "down" position? I really appreciate all the help

The battery switches are the top two on your panel above step well. You will see that they show an off position. You just push the off direction and you will hear a low beep from your propane sensor when the battery relay opens. It's a good idea to disconnect (switch) your battery's off during storage to help from going dead during the long winter months. If you have power available I would suggest a battery minder type charger hooked up to each bank to help from freezing your battery's. A low or dead battery freezes at a much higher temp than a fully charged one.

I leave one one of the lights on so when you turn the battery switch off out goes the light.

The propane switch is outside in the basement. It should be behind one of basement doors that has no lock on because if you have an emergency and have to cut the propane gad off you don't want to be looking for keys. Also for emergency crews to cut it off. Good luck. Let us know if it helped you.

Cindy3582, I have a 2003 Discovery 39S. If they have not changed it that switch is behind the last door on the passenger side in the basement.
Also you can call and register your Discovery with Fleetwood just have your FIN with you. Then if you have any questions about your RV they have all the answers. Customer Care!

Stink.. should the Emergency cut off switch be on or off? The mechanic determined that was what was drawing power off the battery and killed the battery. Now we are getting ready to take off this weekend, so my husband went to go light the stove, water heater, etc and no gas was coming out. He went and switched the Emergency cutoff switch and now the gas is coming out.. I am very confused, was the mechanic just stating that we need to switch the Emergency Cut off Switch on when we are storing the unit so it doesn't draw from the battery, but would need to turn it back on once taken out of storage?

I only throw the propane emergency switch when I fill the propane tank. When you store your coach and turn off the battery switches on the intilliteck panel above the pass. seat you will be shutting of the power to both propane valve solinoids. If your battery's are still going dead when the battery switches are thrown you might have your battery's tested. The batterys may be on there last legs and in need of replacing.
